BUSY SUMMER
... however that although Avon Alpacas started out as a business venture we seem to be keeping the progeny rather than selling them and we have decided we must sell more animals if only to cut the workload
Our alpacas star in a childrens illustrated book written by our local curate which can be seen at http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/1614941?utm_source=TellAFriend&utm_medium=email&utm_content=1614941
This is the nativity story for children. Copies can be obtained from us at £10.00 plus postage with profits going to St Annes church, Siston.
We are expecting shortly some stud animals from Australia. These boys have been quarantined in New Zealand, wll fly to Amsterdam and then by road to the Midlands. After a short stay there they will finally arrive with us mid December. I think at that point they will have a well deserved relax before they start work next year. It is amazing how well these animals adapt to travel but they have been a long time coming and it will be nice to have them here.
We have been asked to organise the Alpaca section of the North Somerset Show again this year which will be held on 2nd May 2011. More of this later.
I mentioned our cria Dylan who was born in June in my last notes. He has had quite a few ups and downs since he was born including twice when he nearly died. But after regular vets visits and an enormous amount of care I'm happy to say that he is now a superb little chap and a picture of health in fact he features in the nativity book mentioned above.
